  • Prevention begins... when communities care
Communities come in all shapes, sizes and types. Each community whether it be a city, county, or neighborhood has its own unique and special strengths. The RPC provides training, consultation and technical assistance built upon the idea that alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems can best be solved through a community approach. All systems need to work in a collaborative effort to identify problems and utilize resources in creating a workable prevention plan.

  • Youth as Resources
The Regional Prevention Center provides opportunities for youth to become actively involved in prevention activities in their schools and communities through Teen Leadership, Youth Advisory Council, Peer Empowerment, Drug Free Clubs, and other youth projects.

  • Prevention for all populations...
Prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug problems is not limited to youth alone. The RPC provides prevention programming for parents, college students, the elderly, impactors of youth and the workplace.

  • Public Information and Multimedia Resource Library

  • Dissemination of alcohol and other drug related prevention information through public presentations and media outlets.

  • Information on local, state, and national organizations, campaigns, and resources.

  • Technical assistance on prevention policy, research, and coalition development.

  • Videotapes, curricula, books, journals, pamphlets, and internet access.

  • KyASAP
The Kentucky Agency for Substance Abuse Policy was created in the 2000 General Assembly to promote the reduction of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use through the implementation of comprehensive research-based strategies. These strategies are created from local boards in each county (or groups of counties) and address each community's needs while fully utilizing existing resources and securing new resources for future efforts.

For more information on KY-ASAP contact the RPC at 1-866-213-8739 or the State KyASAP office at (502)564-8262.
